This implementation of the JVL Mixer dates from the 1980's.
The local oscillator multiplier chain and amplifier is contained in the die-cast boxes in the centre of the picture.
The crystal controlled local oscillator chain delivers the signal to the waveguide transition shown above.
The mixer diode assembly is is in the centre of the picture.
